What to expect in a class / workshop:

In my classes you’ll learn acroyoga transitions, creative flows, drills and partner calibrations. Working in groups of 3, base, flyer, and spotter work together to ensure a safe and supported practice, each playing an equal part. Flows and washing machines will be calibrated to your level to make sure that everyone is challenged, no matter the skill level.

Acroyoga is a playful partner practice that is powerful for building trust and communication with others. Expect to have a lot of laughter whilst challenging your comfort zone at the same time! You do not need a yoga practice to do acroyoga, come as you are, guidance for all levels given (scroll down for more info on acroyoga!).

Shell is a great acroyoga teacher - she is an experienced flyer who can hone in on what isnt quite working when you are basing her and give you great tips to resolve. Most importantly when she cant tell you what isnt working - she will look around to bases who have done it before and ask them what is happening.

Not enough teachers consider the other side - both parts need to work together! Supportive, knowledgeable teacher who looks after her students, teaches them at an appropriate level and gives sensible levels of support. Can’t recommend her highly enough.

Shell is a fantastic teacher! We’ve been having private acro lessons looking to advance our skills, learn some new flows and refine our technique. Immediately she met us with lots of enthusiasm. She had a clear understanding of our needs and loads of great ideas for our journey. Every class she’s demonstrated so much knowledge with effective and personalised guidance and adjustments. She’s enthusiastic, encouraging and really goes above and beyond. We love Shell!

ACRO YOGA AND ACROVINYASA

So, what exactly was I trained to do?

‘ACROVINYASA takes yoga from earth to air. Uniting elements of vinyasa, inversion training and acroyoga, this practice cultivates trust and community in a powerful way. The core of ACROVINYASA is focused on synchronising breath in movement, building strength and finding balance. Inspired by traditional yoga asanas and L-based acrobatic flying, this progressive yoga system includes both solo and partner practice. Getting inverted with a partner is very empowering especially for people who may be fearful of supporting or being supported by others’. @yogabeyond, 2017

What’s the difference between acroyoga and ACROVINYASA?

An ACROVINYASA practice incorporates the practice of acroyoga into a more structured class setting. Level 1 follows a sequence of 45 acroyoga postures which are each paired with a yoga asana, the intention being that by embodying these asana solo we are able to understand what is happening in our bodies when we are in the air, improving our proprioception. These 45 asana are foundational postures to the practice of acroyoga, and by practicing them as a flow from one to the next, it opens the door to more advanced movements, because basic entries, exits and transitions have been covered. Level 2 follows another sequence of 45 asana revisiting part of Level 1 and introducing new challenges with advanced technical difficulty.

ACROVINYASA dedicates time to solo inversion training with a spotter, learning foundational techniques and for the simple reason of getting used to the feeling of being upside down!

An ACROVINYASA practice will offer a solo warm up and cool down, focusing on the yoga elements of the practice… breath work, stretching and of course … for all that hard work, a well earned savasana!
